Creating Innovative and Genuine Opportunities for People with Disabilities or Disadvantages to Support Their Community Participation
For over 35 years, Tom Heminover - a client in the Day Training and Habilitation Program in Mankato - has worked with Team Leader Tom Maloney. The pair understand each other in a unique way. Tom has limited speech ability, but through informal signs, body gestures and sounds, Tom is able to effectively communicate with his team leader and other staff in the area.
With a tireless work ethic, Milena Sewill relies on her own determination and responsibility to achieve success. For the past several years, Milena has worked independantly cleaning the Lake Sisseton Salon, a Fairmont restaurant and bar owned by Diane Draper.
Diane counts on Milena, a client at MRCI - Fairmont to provide consistent quality service, and Milena delivers.
It’s Thursday afternoon and Brian Peterson is working up a sweat as he polishes and details a red Mazda at Jerry’s Body Shop in Mankato. Brian, who has worked at the body shop for the past eight years, wipes his forehead and checks off some boxes on his clipboard.
“I’m responsible for this section,” said Brian with a smile. “This is what I do... I love working here.”
