It’s Thursday afternoon and Brian Peterson is working up a sweat as he polishes and details a red Mazda at Jerry’s Body Shop in Mankato. Brian, who has worked at the body shop for the past eight years, wipes his forehead and checks off some boxes on his clipboard.
“I’m responsible for this section,” said Brian with a smile. “This is what I do... I love working here.”
Brian, who participates in the Community Employment program at MRCI, works in the Quality Assurance department and is one of the last people at Jerry’s Body Shop to work on a vehicle before it’s released to the customer. He helps to make sure all the lights
work and ensures the car is clean inside and out.
As soon as the car is completed, the next one
rolls in and Brian gets straight to work.
“Brian is a very good worker,” said
Geralynn Kottschade, who along with her
husband Jerry runs the body shop. “He does
very well for us.”
After being asked what he likes best about
the job, Brian mentioned the relationships he
has with his co-wokers.
“I like the people here,” he said. “Everyone
here is great to work with.”
